Boone, NC: An Outdoor Enthusiast’s Dream

Hostfully Host Spotlight: Laura Davidson

Powered by The Clean Bedroom

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, Boone is a small city with a population of about 17,000.

Home of Appalachian State University, Boone has a lot to offer tourists who love the outdoors without the busyness of big city traveling.

Dubbed as one of the best U.S. cities for outdoor activities, this week’s Hostfully Host Laura has turned her love of Boone into a serious business.

Who is Laura Davidson?

Laura’s daughter attended Appalachian State University herself in Boone. When she graduated, there was the big decision of what to do with the home Laura and her husband had purchased for their daughter.

Laura explains, “when our daughter graduated from Appalachian State, she left us with the house we purchased for her. Boone is a great vacation spot as well as a busy little university town.”

Not ready to turn the page on Boone, Laura decided to do what so many others with underused properties do: Airbnb.

“We wanted to continue to visit and enjoy Boone. Airbnb seemed like our answer. We had no idea that our little cottage would be so well received by the Airbnb community,” Laura explains to Hostfully.

And their Boone property is not only for Airbnb; Laura and her husband stay there when they visit, and even let colleagues in the non-profit industry stay at the place free of charge.

Boone, North Carolina

According to Laura, Boone is magical place with a rare temperate rainforest, with foggy, cool mornings in the fall, and sweet breezy summers.

This area has something to do for everyone, particularly outdoor enthusiasts, including hiking, skiing, fly fishing, zip lining, shopping, and fantastic restaurants. More on that later.

In terms of hosting tips, Laura had some important knowledge to pass on:

“Find a great housekeeper; someone who does more than just clean, someone who cares enough to see all the little details.”

Great advice Laura! A good manager of your property can make all the difference when hosting on Airbnb. Finding the right person on the ground can be the difference between succeeding or failing as a host.

Laura also had some of her favorite local hotspots to share with Hostfully.
